Free crochet kids crown pattern

Free crochet kids crown pattern

Hey guys,

I am trying to find some time in this crazy whirlwind called life to treat you to another free crochet pattern. So while the little one naps and the older one trashes the house... here I am bringing you free crochet pattern goodness!

If you follow me on Instagram you might remember that about 4 months ago our family has grown by another little boy.

As with my older boy we decided to keep up the tradition and take a picture of little one every month on the same date to see how he changes and grows.

But this time round I decided to incorporate ... yes! You guessed it right... crochet!
Each month there is a different crochet item in the picture.

Fancy having a look?

This is his first month picture and he is wearing the Joni Romper I made before he was born. It is worked in Tunisian crochet knit stitch and is a really quick make. It only just fitted him when he was 1 month old! Safe to say that was the last time he wore it! You can find the Joni Romper pattern here

In his two month picture he is wearing the Pearl Cardigan in the “oh so lush” mustard colour made in Tunisian crochet purl stitch. You can find the Pearl Cardigan pattern here.

He was three months over Christmas hence the Santa hat! I made this pattern up as I went along and although I had many requests for the pattern I decided not to publish it. There is many free Santa hat patterns out there and let’s be honest... with a 3 month old baby I’d be publishing it in July the following year lol.

And it finally brings us to the four month picture where my little prince is wearing a crown!

So today I’m going to share this free crochet crown pattern with you.

PATTERN NOTES
  • the crown fits 4 month old but is easily adjusted by adding or subtracting 6 sts from the starting chain.
  • It’s worked in round with the points created in last round

MAIN PATTERN
Chain 54, sl st to first chain to join into round being careful not to twist the chain.
Rnd 1: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a st here and throughout), dc around, sl st to first dc. 54 dc
Rnd 2: 1 ch, cross dc around, sl st to first st. 54 cross dc
Rnd 3 - 8: as Rnd 2.
Rnd 9: 1ch, [miss 2 sts, (6 dtr, 2 ch, 6 dtr) into next st, miss 2 sts, dc in next] repeat around, sl st to first st.

Fasten off. Sew in all ends.

The crown benefits from blocking to emphasise the points ... (says she who hasn’t actually blocked it so it works just fine without)

I would love to see your projects using my patterns! If you use my pattern please share a picture with me over on Instagram.

Happy crafting
